RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)
With regards to RPL, please refer to the policy as to the Camelot International (Pty) Ltd as described below.
An interview is arranged with each individual whereby an assessment will take place according to the outcomes required by each programme. Upon completion of this process, learners will be guided as to whether they will have to complete specific modules/bridging courses, etc., to ensure that all outcomes have been completed.
A report from the previous learning institution or place of work, where applicable, a practical assessment will be held to determine the level of prior learning. During the interview the applicant will have to disclose when this prior learning took place. The assessor would have to take into consideration and assess whether the prior learning that has taken place is applicable to the programme. An example of a prior learning programme which will be credited is as follows:
• Hygiene and sterilisation. • Receiving and consulting with clients. • High level of interpersonal skills, in particular excellent communication and listening, empathy, patience, tact, diplomacy and a mature disposition. • Literacy, communication and numeracy skills equal to a NQF 3 & 4. • Practical abilities gained through in-salon training. • Modular training courses completed. • Anatomy & Physiology. • Dermatology.
Camelot has a mechanism in place whereby individuals are able to complete specific modules in the field of Health and Skincare Therapy, on a part time basis which will assist each learner to complete the various exit outcomes required for admission to, or completion of, the full qualifications.
Each learner will be required to provide documentary proof of prior learning. Where applicable, employers will be required to provide a complete description of practical work completed including the duration of the programme.
• A detailed description of the programme curriculum including the duration of the programme. • The financial implications. • The requirements regarding practical and theoretical work. • Time table. • Registration as a student member of Professional Bodies. • Requirements regarding in-salon training/experiential training. • Pass requirements, etc.
